“If the sound that comes on the mother board is not working will installing this allow the sound to be used again, replacing the bad part on the motherboard?”

I've had this problem before and yes you will have sound from a sound card even if your on board sound doesn't work. Make sure you have a slot on your motherboard for the sound card that you want.

Yes, this card will allow you to bypass the motherboard's onboard sound. Your speakers will sound better with this upgrade. My Bose speakers sounded much better with this card!
