Yes, the grinder will hold enough beans to brew 12 cups. Using the scoop that is included with the unit, I use one level scoop for each cup I plan to brew. I usually only brew 8 cups, but if I want a particularly strong pot, I can either use heaping scoops or I can add 10 or 12 scoops and still only add 8 cups of water.

The standard scoop for beans is a 1/8th cup. But, always use two scoops equal to 1/4th cup that makes great coffee. We like it a little stronger so we use the 1/4 cup beans then add 1 scoop ground coffee. It doesn't overflow and it is perfect!
