The safety literature cautionary statement is intended to protect your overhead cabinets from steam damage. I have the same issue. To address this I have placed the unit on an absorbent pad so I can slide the unit forward such that the brewing portion is not directly under the cabinet. Then the steam produced during brewing does not contact the cabinet. The absorbent pad also catches the splatter that occurs when making single serve cups. Being able to slide the unit forward also aids in filling the water reservoirs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We put ours on a slab or plastic tray. Pull it out to use the coffee machine then slide it back under the cabinet out of the way when we done.
