Mine will do that on occasion. It will pour water out of the top rather than through the k cup. I stop the process and replace the k cup (coffee pod) and do it again with no issues. If yours does it every time, you might want to try a different brand of coffee pods and if it continues, return the coffee pot as defective. But I've found that the top of the coffee pods have been completely shredded instead of having a clean small hole through it when it happens.
