• Yes it can. Batteries are sealed lead acid.

• It can - but won't be pretty with the power cord coming out of the top front of it.

• There are screw mounting holes at the bottom of the UPS so it can be mounted to a wall horizontally. So I'd guess laying flat on a shelf may be ok.
