I don't know the detailed model number of my Inspiron 15. I had a minor accident with it a few weeks ago when it slid off the sofa and onto the floor, landing on the edge where the power cord plugs in. The socket inside the machine was damaged and I couldn't get the batteries to charge. A local computer repair guy got a new socket and installed it, but the batteries still wouldn't charge. He figured out that a critical wire inside the plug had been broken off, and thecomputer wasn't getting the signal to charge the batteries .I found the power supply I bought on BestBuy's website. It's a genuine Dell item and was about 40% less than Dell's price. As soon as I got it, I checked that the inner conductor was present and started using it. The computer's batteries charged up fully in about 3 hours and it's been working fine since. I'd suggest a quick check on Dell's website to verify full compatibility with your machine.
