I just purchased a new Dell laptop without a DVD /CD drive and is why I purchased this device. I can watch movies, burn on to the disc and anything on your disc can be transferred to your computer. The only downfall is it cannot play Blu-Ray DVD's only DVD's, other than that it's very compact and user friendly and it just plugs into your USB drive and your ready to go

It's probably best for occasional use rather than a real daily workhorse, as the manual disc loading is kind of simple and basic.
