• Yes, you can use this to install software. Almost all devices can be installed without a CD, but I suppose if you need this USB WiFi installed to get access to internet then that may not be the case.

• I think it will work for that. I was able to download software /cd that comes with the dvd drive. It will not , however, play the dvd movie that I was trying to watch. Have been working on this a little but I’m on vacation and won’t spend all of my time on this.
