I don't know the answer to that, but I would like to point out that I plug this Dell External USB DVD/DRW Dtive DW316 into my Dell LapTop (Inspiron 15-7000 (2 in1) Windows 10. I had an issue playing DVDs. I went on -line and downloaded the MPC-HCx64 Media Player. It is free without the hassle of companies that try to sell you something else.

Not sure, I think you have to download the app, purchased mine so I could download music. The new laptop does not have a CD player.

Since this cd drive will play cds when plugged into my pc, it should play them if you can plug it into your car. I haven't tried that, so I can't say for sure.
