The optical drive is primarily designed to work with the laptop or desktop hence, there can compatibility issues when using it on USB attached to truck as it may lack the system drivers require to operate it properly.

As long as you can keep the player from bouncing around, it will work just fine in a truck usb... if the player bounces, playback will be choppy.
