A:AnswerIt does not. It does need a port that can supply at least 1.6 amps, so I found out the hard way it doesn't work on tablets. But if your device uses a normal charger rather than a phone charger, it should be fine.
A:AnswerI do not think that would be possible. You may be able to add an external hard drive to to your receiver in order to increase DVR storage, if DirecTV allows that. That is a question for them.
A:AnswerThis device cannot accept external power sources. It is powered through the usb connection itself. My experience is that if the device uses "phone charger" ports for power, it is not capable of powering this drive. It will power up until it tries to read the disc and then blank out, repeating infinitely.
