Hello Lordan. Sorry to learn of this inconvenience. Protection mode could be activated by one a few things. It is sometimes because the AVR isn't getting enough ventilation and is overheating. 6" clearance is required above the AVR for it to breathe well. It could otherwise be a stray strand of speaker wire at the AVR or the speaker end of the speaker cable causing a short-out. Another possibility is the speakers offer a greater load than the AVR can handle at the desired volume levels. Some speakers can be either insensitive or/and have wild impedance swings. In this case, higher power and/or higher current amplification is required. If after investigation it proves to be none of these possible causes, I suggest unplugging everything from the back of the AVR so it is completely without connectivity. Then you want to reconnect just the power cord and see if the symptom persists. If it does, I suggest contacting Best Buy regarding service.
