“Can I just use this receiver for the atmos speakers? I have the Denon 7.2 but according to the Geek Squad I need the 9.2. Just trying to see if I can save a little money or if I have to buy once cry once.”

This can be done in some instances but will likely complicate the operation. The 7.2 receiver will have to have the processing power for the appropriate number of Atmos channels as well.
