“Is it possible to turn the onscreen display off? When watching a movie & I'd rather not see the volume control on the screen. 2) I am currently running 7.2 with no height speakers. If playing Dolby Atmos does it automatically choose/do VIRTUAL Atmos?”

To turn off the onscreen volume display go to the set up menu-video-onscreen display-volume-off. The speaker formation is chosen in the speaker set up menu. In 7.2 configuration, it will not automatically choose virtual Atmos. If an Atmos signal is detected, the Atmos audio channels will be routed to the appropriate 7.2 channels. Atmso speaker configuration examples are 5.2.2/5.2.4/7.2.2. Check your speaker locations, you might be able to set your receiver to 5.2.2 Atmos configuration.
