Hello. Yes - if you have the AVR-X3800H set-up for a 3.1 configuration, you will not lose any of the source's audio content.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can turn off surrounds in the settings. Then it will be a 3.1 system. No sound should be lost as I think it will downmix to 3.1. If space is an issue in the rear, I would suggest adding front height speaker for the atmos effect.
