The controller comes with it but you need your cell phone or tablet to complete the task of flying and take picture. .
you can purchase separately an all enclosed controller but it is not indispensable 
For Mavic zoom 2 your cell phone is sufficient.

The controller uses your phone or with an adapter an iPad for view, seems to be more than enough, the DJI smart controller is 750$
Gotta want it bad. And only works with some DJI products!
