The pro model doesn't cover backward. It doesn't have rear sensors. So the air is better in this sense and video quality as well. So yes it'll cover flying forwards and backward as long as the sensors are on.

Hey Johnny. Yes, the Mavic air will be able to follow you forward or backward, as well as track you from any fixed angle you choose!
