The short time I've had this, it hasn't gotten hot or shut down on me. It's been very smooth and great. Always make sure to balance the your phone on the gimbal first before you turn it on, that will reduce the about of energy the gimbal will have to do. But with this one, there isn't any balancing since it's a magnet attachment on it and no way to adjust. So it's already aiming to balance your phone as much as possible using the mag safe from iPhone
