Hello RH, this is Kelly with Dyson. The HP04 Pure Hot + Cool purifier is a 3-in-1 machine: it will heat, purify and cool your home air. In heat mode, you can select from 1-10 airflow speeds and set the temperature up to 99 degrees. You can place the machine on carpeting, as long as it's a stable surface. Yes is add heat to the air. It have a front vent and rear vent. The heater function going up to 99 degree now and you can place the Dyson on any surface.
