Hello DonM, This is Miella from Dyson. The input power at the maximum heat setting is 40 watts, and the motor type is a DC motor 14000 watts. In standby (plugged in, but not in use) the machine takes less than 0.5 watts. Hope this helps! Miella Dyson Customer Support
