• Hello, This is Miella from Dyson. The PH01 Pure Humidify+Cool includes a remote for functions. The Dyson Link App is not required to benefit from the machine. Hope this helps! Miella Dyson Customer Support

• The app is not necessary but is helpful. The unit comes with a nice remote control that can perform all the control functions of the app. The app is nice because it is easier to understand than the information provided by the graphic display on the unit. One of the screens on the iPhone app is identical to the front of the remote control and both work the same. I have both an iPhone and an iPad. I utilize the app on the iPhone mostly. The app is loaded on my iPad. Although I have not used the app on the iPad, I have confidence that it will work well when and if I need it.
