Other environmental factors that can affect how long it takes includes current ventilation, the layout of the room, etc.

A:AnswerHello there, this is Kelly with Dyson. Our Purifiers & fans do not have Freon, so they are not an air conditioner, but it does work better than standard fans. Dyson fans use Air Multiplier technology to create a powerful stream of uninterrupted airflow. Air is accelerated through an annular aperture, creating a high-velocity jet of air. This passes over an air foil-shaped ramp, channeling its direction and creating areas of low pressure behind and around the fan. The change in pressure forces surrounding air to be drawn into the airflow, resulting in a powerful stream of smooth cooling air. You can adjust the airflow speeds from 1-10, but cannot cool a room to a set temperature.

You'll be happy to know that during testing, cigarette smoke was specifically tested to help determine the filter life and whole room purification. From these results 99.97% of allergens and pollutants as small as 0.3 microns are removed from the air.
CADR, which stands for Clean Air Delivery Rate, is the volume of filtered air delivered by a purifier in a given time frame. This measurement does not represent the quality of the air leaving the unit, only how much. For this reason we feel that it is largely irrelevant. This does not in any way represent a machine's ability to effectively mix the purified air with the ambient air in the room. CADR testing is performed in an empty room, with a ceiling fan simulating air movement - this is not indicative of the live environment our products are used in. Our product has a lower CADR – but actually projects the air much further than other products, features better filtration, and more effectively mixes the air in the room
