• The top is a magnet, be sure to place the remote on it face down

• Hi Mona, this is Kelly with Dyson. The magnet isn't very strong on the top of the machine; the remote will stay on top, but it needs to be right in the center of the amplifier loop. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
