You need one in each room if it is self contained, such as bedrooms. I have this model in my living room which is open to the dining room and kitchen. However, you can only get readings for the room location of the machine. I can't tell you for sure it is purifying the other rooms.

If you leave doors open and windows closed, you will see benefits of a more whole-home purification. However, that will only extend so far. If you're looking for something for whole home, and only wishing to purchase one device, we'd suggest placing the TP07 in a larger room such as a living or family room.
