• No. You cannot control the heat function via the smart phone app. This is a handicap app for a poor product. I have 2 models of them. One is meant for about 350 sq ft & another one for about 700-800 sq ft. Both work same. The bigger one that is twice as much expensive doesn't do any better job.

• Yes but it doesn't always want to connect. Sometimes it says wifi not connected. Which is frustrating when you cant find the remote.
