Hello Sarah, this is Kelly with Dyson.The Dyson Pure Cool™ purifying fan can purify the air in any size room. We test our purifiers in a room of 291 square feet and take measurements to ensure the whole room has reached a clean level before our Auto mode stops the machine running. The larger the space, and the more windows/doors there are, the longer it will take to purify the air. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
