• Yes, it is a cup, so no phone or an account is required. Of course if you want to use it as it is designed, so you can control the temperature of the liquid inside, then a phone or tablet is required.

• Hi Karen, Ember Mugs can be used with or without a phone. However, the app allows you to customize your temperature for specific drinks (coffee, tea, latte, etc.) and even keep track of caffeine intake! Best, The Ember Team
