Yes, input. There is no sound output jacks in the projector. Many, if not all, audio visual media players or receivers have output options. For the best image you can use HDMI to the projector with the projector sound off and use RCA jacks for the audio to a stereo system or home theater receiver. There are numerous options for video and audio separations depending your AV equipment.

No audio out so no external source hookup - either use internal speaker or a receiver (or anything else that works for that purpose) before the signal gets into projector.
