“If this scans pictures also, can a description be added to maybe include names of who or what the picture includes? Does this ever eat the pictures I have pictures that are 100years old and do not want them chewed up.”

Hello Snookums. The ES-500W II is designed to scan documents, receipts, business & ID cards. Considering the age of your pictures, we recommend looking at Photo Scanners such as the V39 or V600. Regards, Kevin - The Epson Team.
