• I can only speak for the "FTW" (For The Win) model of this 960 because that's the one I bought! It DOES have the backplate! However, there are several models of this card! I can't name them offhand, and the other models might not have it. So if you want/need the backplane I can only tell you to insist on the "FTW" model.

• This model does come with the backplate; at least mine did. I think I read online that the backplate is $20 extra if you bought a model without it.

• Yes, the FTW model has the backplate. I am not sure if any of the other models, SC or SSC have it, but I don't think so. I have two of these FTW models and can confirm they do have backplates.
