• when used in the cooling mode there is no need to drain the unit.

• No drain unless using dry mode. No bucket to empty. It evaporates.

• The response provided by Frigidaire does not answer the question. The question is about when one runs this A/C in cooling mode, does it regularly require one to empty the water tank or drain the unit? Or does it vent the water out through the exhaust hose?

• If the air conditioner will not be used for an extended period of time: 1.Drain the water collection tank completely and leave the bottom drain cap and rubber plug off for an extended period of time to allow any residual. Once the tank is completely drained and no more water flows out, reinstall the rubber plug and cap. ~ Christy
