“my last question on this hood was answered,but I need a bit more detail.I realize there is no power cord to go with this for purchase.Can i take a piece of 12/2 wiring .Wire it to the hood and put a heavy duty plug on the other end to plug into outlet”

The best way to do what you want to do so it doesn't look crappy or have a power cord hanging down from the unit it to run the wires inside the junction box on the fan up through the cabinet and makeup your power supply connections in the cabinet above the vent hood. This way no wires are showing making a clean install. If you follow the included install directions it will tell you where to drill the hole for the power supply feed, even the size hole to drill.
