They do protrude beyond the body.

The door at 90 degrees is about a 1/2inch beyond the box of the fridge. Also, the handle is out about 3 inches beyond the box. If your wall falls short of where the handle is then you don't need to worry about it.

With both doors open it comes to 33 1/2" not counting the door handles. W/ handles add 4"
