Yes the range top does allow this

​Hi, Adam! According to the complete owner's guide, if the cookware is removed, the cooking zone will become inactive. Once the cookware is centered back into position, the element will continue to cook at the desired temperature set. If the cookware is not placed back within 30 seconds, the cooking zone will shut off automatically.  You may locate this information and more on page 18 of the guide.
