Yes, but only in the area of the 8” heating area. But, the iron/steel in the pan will conduct heat outwards to the edges, just not as much as in the center area.

Because of this all pots and pans used on an induction stovetop must have a magnetic bottom in order to heat. It is important to make sure the bottom of your pan is completely metal and not metal coated. The coating can wear off over time and cause uneven cooking on your induction range.
