Mine actually has 6. There are 5 knobs and 5 heating spots. But one has an inner and outer heating burn area to accommodate medium to large pans. The knob for this spot can be turned to the left or right. The right direction is for the inner burner. The left is for both. So essentially 6 options on the cooking surface.
