Questionhow much clearance does this microwave need? thinking of mounting this microwave in a cabinet

- Answer Hi maomao, thanks for reaching out! This model is actually meant to only be installed on the countertop. We would not recommend attempting to build this unit into surrounding cabinetry. We have not tested or approved this unit for that style of installation. The recommended clearances for this unit are as follows: 3 inches on each side, 3 inches on the top, and 1 inch in the rear. - Answer Hi tre - Thanks for viewing GE Model JES1072SHSS! These microwaves are intended for countertop use and need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Allow 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. QuestionHi, where is the inflow/air vent of this microwave. We are building a custom cabinet for this and was wondering if if we need “air space” for ventilation more on the back or on the side (if side, then left or right side). Thanks!

QuestionHi, the plastic is bubbling up and coming off the microwave over the 30 Second button and we’ve only had this for a few months. I’m assuming because we use that button so frequently. Is this covered under the warranty?

- Answer This thread is great! I also thought I had this problem, but sure enough I was able to remove the plastic. It wasn’t obvious and I was afraid to make it worse until I read this thread. After removal all seems ok. Thanks!

Model JES1072SHSS is 10 3/16"H x 17 5/16"W x 12 3/4"D and can be placed in a cabinet as long as you allow 3" of air clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. The comparable model is GE Profile™ 1.1 Cu. Ft. Countertop Microwave Oven Model #:PEM31SFSS (Dimensions: 12 1/8H x 24W x 12 7/8D). This model is compatible with optional 27" Trim Kit JX827SFSS and 30" JX830SFSS for installation in a cabinet. Most models have a 100 degree door swing. Microwave doors are not reversible. Allow 1/2" clearance on the hinge side if the microwave is against a wall or deep cabinet. - Answer Hi Alix - Thanks for choosing GE! Model # JES1072SHSS is not compatible with a hanging kit. GE® 0.7 Cu. Ft. Capacity Countertop Microwave Oven Model # JEM3072SHSS is compatible with Optional Undercabinet Hanging Kit JXA019K (sold separately). Do not install directly against a side wall or cabinet and allow 2" air clearance on each side of the microwave. No additional air clearance is required in the rear beyond the included spacer/rear brackets. If installed in a cabinet with the hanging kit, allow 2" on each side and at the bottom. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping.
