“Although you recommend otherwise, I am going to mount this microwave on an open shelf of a floor cabinet. I will leave 3" space on the left and right and on the top and rear. Will the unit work ok? What might happen if I run it for an hour at a time?”

Hello! This is Lida with GE Appliances. The microwave can be placed in a cabinet as long as it has 3" on all side and the top and rear. It sounds like you have exactly the minimum clearances, so the microwave should have enough air flow around it to use it for extended periods of time. Thanks for checking!
