Hey there, and thanks for this great question! We appreciate your interest in this countertop microwave, and apologize for any confusion over the light. The interior light can be replaced, though a technician would need to do so because of its location in the microwave. Service can be scheduled by calling 1-800-432-2737. Service done to replace the light would not generally be covered by the limited one year manufacturer’s warranty; we regret any inconvenience that causes, but ‘Service to repair or replace light bulbs, except for LED lamps’ does fall under the section not covered by the warranty. If it might be useful for you, further details about the warranty are provided on page 23 of the Use and Care manual, which can be viewed on our GE website when you look up the model number and go to the product page. Please try again later.A non-functioning light in ANY microwave needs to be replace by an authorized technician, because microwaves are inherently dangerous to people and pets (which is why the screen is difficult to see through--it has a metal screen integrated into it to keep the microwaves safely inside the unit), and I have NEVER seen one covered by warranty for this reason. However, I have owned several microwaves in my time, and would like to point out that the light bulb has NEVER failed.
