“I need a countertop microwave that will fit on a shelf that is only 12" deep to the rear wall. I do not mind a few inches of "overhang" at the front, but the absolute rear of the unit to the FRONT FOOT of the unit cannot exceed 12". Will this model fit?”

This model wont work for you. Total deep ia around 16in and back to legs is around 14in

The location of the feet / legs on the bottom of a countertop microwaves are not a dimension that is critical to the proper and recommended installation of any of our countertop microwaves. As a result, this is not a dimension we have available. The foot location does vary from one model to the next. It is important to note that the surface the microwave stands on should be the depth of the microwave, not just the depth to the front legs. This is a recommended safety precaution. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. We recommend 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. GE® 0.7 Cu. Ft. JES1072SHSS is the smallest and measures 17 5/16"Width x 10 3/16" Height x 12 3/4" Depth.
