Does the unit have a control panel backup light? null

No it doesn't have a panel light. Good news is I solved the problem with an order on Ebay for a magnetized led sewing machine goose neck lamp. It was under $8.00 . It plugs into a standard outlet (where the microwave is plugged in) and it's just the right size to illuminate the panel and the switch is on the magnetic base that attaches anywhere (top or side). Works great for me and I'm sure you'll be happy with this simple solution. Good luck.
