• Hi robwood- Thanks for reaching out to us. The inside of the microwave door is covered with a thick, clear plastic sheet that should not be removed. The purpose of this plastic is to prevent any interference with the metal screen in the door. The microwave has an interior light that automatically comes on when the door is opened and when it is cooking. If the light is not coming on, we suggest to check with Best Buy regarding exchange policy.
