Hi JGU. We'll be happy to help clarify this for you. In the Quick Specs: https://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=PEB9159SJSS_R2.pdf - it shows that the cutout space for this model has to be, at minimum, 36" from the floor. Therefore, this microwave cannot be built-in to an island. We hope this helps clear things up! - Guy@GEA
