“I need to replace an over-the-range GE JVM1870 -- it seems that this will clearly fit in the same opening, but will the exhaust vent (to the outside) also line up? I'm trying to make the switch as easy as possible.”

The venting of your current unit and this unit are the same. All of our 30" over-the-range microwaves are designed to replace each other. You will need to use the hardware and brackets that come with your new microwave, as they are model-specific. We appreciate you choosing GE Appliances once again!
