Hi VBrisc- We certainly appreciate your loyalty! We are not familiar with a white residue/film from the microwave vent. You will need to rotate the blower based on the type of venting (outdoors/or recirculating indoors). You should feel very little air from the vent when vented to the outside. If vented indoors (recirculating), you will feel more air flow from the top vent. The charcoal filter should be installed if recirculating to remove smoke and odors.
