Q: QuestionWe have a whirlpool microwave serial number TR S 20 42191 what GE microwave will fit. Model number on whirlpool is MH1150XMB-2 would like to replace with a new age microwave. Old model is from 2005.

• A:Answer I would highly recommend staying with same brand. I went from whirlpool to GE. Measurements were very very close, well found out they have different ways of attaching /mounting and I have to replace a row of tile under it, as it has 3/8 gap now.

Q: QuestionIs it normal for the fan to be very loud when cooking? The vent fan isn't on.

• A:Answer Remove the exhaust hood, make sure the exhaust system isnt restricted. While mine was running it was producing almost 80dB! removing my exhaust reduced it almost to a whisper (Something in the exhaust hood was pinning the flap if using external venting). When the exhaust is restricted it runs very loud, fan speed increases. Wish GE manuals/responses was more descriptive than saying noise while running is normal, they dont account for this simple issue.

Q: QuestionIf I vent the over the range thru the drywall, (1) will the moisture/oil from cooking damage drywall, e.g. mold form or grease build up cause problems. And (2) will the smells from cooking be eliminated since vented into drywall? Thanks

You will hear a humming sounds during operation or change in the blower sound at power levels other than high. It also features a two-speed, 300-CFM venting system to removes smoke, steam and odor from the kitchen. The sound can be compared to a standard range vent hood. • A:Answer Hi there, thanks for your question! All 30" over-the-range microwaves are approximately the same width, and are designed to fit into a 30" wide cabinet opening. Therefore, any of our 30" over-the-range models will work as a replacement for an existing 30" over-the-range model. This makes choosing a replacement microwave easy! - NOTE: When replacing an over-the-range microwave, the mounting bracket included with the new microwave should be used since the mounting bracket is specific to each model. The new screws, bolts, and exhaust adapter should also be used.
