• Yes, you can set your own time. While there are preset times, if you push “cook time” first, then you can press the time you want.

• You should be able to enter in a specified time by pressing "cook time" and entering in the amount of time. It sounds like maybe the other person you are talking about was trying to enter in express codes instead of cook time.
