As far as I can tell there is no way this can be used as a counter top.

Over-the-range microwaves cannot be used on a counter or shelf and aren't UL approved for this purpose. Keep in mind the underside isn't flat on over-the range microwaves and would not provide a stable surface. Additionally, there can be a heat issue, especially if the vent fan or surface lights were accidentally turned on.
