If you vent the exhaust from the micro wave it has to go to the outside through duct work.

We found that as long as you follow the directions on how to vent in this manner, they should not expect damage to their wall as everything should be contained in the ductwork and then pushed outside. You should make sure that the grease filters are cleaned every so often just to make sure that your unit is pulling as much air as it can. We also found that some smell might be taken out of the room as steam and smoke are removed but that's not the primary purpose of the vent system.
