This is what I did and I suggest that you do the same. I called GE customer service and gave them the model number of my existing microwave and asked them what microwave I can replace it. It should be the same measurements. The installation may not be same just like mine because you have to remove the old brackets . Believe me I did it all by myself.

While the space needed for the new microwave is the same, we do recommend using the new mounting bracket and hardware that is packaged with the new microwave. Mounting plates are model specific, and cannot be reused from model to model. You would need to use the mounting plate that comes with a new model. We hope this helps. Thanks for checking! Olga
